Serving Teams

Connect and use your gifts through a serving team!

Ministry teams serve within the church in a variety of areas.

  • Celebration teams offer acting or musical performance as well as behind the scenes roles.
  • Children’s ministry teams provide the helping hands needed for KidsDiscovery on Sunday mornings and special events for children.
  • Youth teams invest in the lives of teenagers through participation in Youth Celebration, small groups, fellowship nights, events or retreats.
  • Facility teams assist with maintenance and administrative tasks related to New Horizons’ building.
  • Financial teams handle the accounting and contribution processing roles for the church.
  • Welcoming teams provide hospitality, a warm greeting and a friendly face for New Horizons’ activities.
  • Care teams come alongside those who are hurting and offer practical helps.

Mission teams serve outside the New Horizons Fellowship facility, whether locally, regionally, or internationally.

  • Local team activities include prison ministry (Jailhouse Rock), nursing home ministry (Geriatric Jam), delivery of local Meals on Wheels, building days with Habitat for Humanity, connecting families with toys through The Christmas Store, and providing food to hungry schoolchildren with Backpack Buddies.
  • Regionally, the Disaster Immediate Response Team (DIRT) sends teams of volunteers to assist those affected by natural disasters or other tragedies. Previous DIRT participants have gone to NYC and Washington, DC after 9/11, Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina, West Virginia after flooding, and throughout NC in response to hurricanes, tornadoes and flooding.
  • Internationally, New Horizons has sent teams or representatives recently to Jamaica, Haiti, Southern Africa, and France, and anticipates adding travel to Argentina.
